Crisis has hit the Okada Riders Association in Ekiti State as about 50 aggrieved members staged a peaceful protest at relevant institutions and media houses in Ado-Ekiti.

The protesters, drawn from the association’s six branches across the state, demanded an end to the proposed third-term tenure of the association’s Chairman, Mr Sunday Asaolu.

They carried placards calling for strict adherence to the association’s constitution.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Adeoyin Onikokoro alleged that Asaolu had completed the constitutionally approved two terms and had also spent an additional year in office.

He appealed to the Board of Trustees to uphold the association’s constitution and reject any attempt to reappoint the chairman and other members of the executive for a third term.

The protesters also alleged that members had suffered harassment at different levels and expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as the executive’s failure to adequately address challenges facing riders.

They called on relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that their grievances are addressed.
