EFCC DENIES DISRUPTING LEGITIMATE BUSINESSES IN EKITI

July 09, 2026

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims that its operations in Ekiti State are disrupting legitimate businesses, describing the reports as false and misleading. The agency insisted that its activities are focused on combating financial crimes while protecting law-abiding individuals and enterprises.

The commission explained that its presence in Ekiti is aimed at creating a safe and secure environment where genuine businesses can thrive without the threat of fraud and other economic crimes. It stressed that its operations are targeted at criminal elements and not legitimate business owners.

The EFCC reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its mandate professionally and in accordance with the law. It also urged residents and members of the business community to disregard rumours suggesting that the agency is in the state to intimidate people or hinder lawful economic activities.
