ADC NAMES AMAECHI AS ATIKU’S RUNNING MATE FOR 2027 ELECTION
June 16, 2026
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as its vice presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the statement, Amaechi’s selection followed extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women groups, as well as representatives from all geopolitical zones across the country. The party said the decision was aimed at strengthening its ticket ahead of the 2027 polls.
Amaechi had earlier emerged second in the party’s presidential primaries, which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate. The development marks a key step in ADC’s preparations for the upcoming general election.
