COURT ORDERS FINAL FORFEITURE OF 48 PROPERTIES LINKED TO EX-AGF MALAMI

July 16, 2026

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of 48 properties linked to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to the Federal Government. The ruling was delivered on Wednesday by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.

The court held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) established reasonable suspicion that the properties were acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities. Justice Abdulmalik ruled that Malami, his family members and companies linked to the assets failed to disprove the commission's allegations.

The judge also dismissed all applications and motions filed by the respondents, describing them as lacking merit. She maintained that the case was not about ownership of the properties but whether the funds used to acquire them were legitimate.
