June 18, 2026

A UK court has cleared former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, of six bribery charges brought against her in London.

The court on Wednesday found her not guilty of the allegations after she stood trial on charges bordering on five counts of accepting bribes and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. She had consistently denied all the accusations throughout the proceedings.

Diezani Alison-Madueke served as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources between 2010 and 2015 under former President Goodluck Jonathan, during which she became a central figure in multiple international corruption investigations.
