EKITI COURT GRANTS BAIL TO APC MEMBER OVER ALLEGED CYBERBULLYING
July 29, 2026
An Ekiti State Magistrate Court has granted bail to an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Olubusoye Akinwale, who is standing trial over alleged cyberbullying and related offences instituted by a member representing Irepodun/Ifelodun II of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Hakeem Jamiu.
Akinwale, 40, was arraigned before the court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
According to the charge sheet, the prosecution alleged that Akinwale and others still at large conspired on May 18, 2026, at Awo-Ekiti to publish videos on social media in which they repeatedly referred to Hon. Hakeem Jamiu as a "thief," an act the prosecution described as defamatory and capable of causing public uproar.
