EKITI PDP ACCUSES OYEBANJI OF INTIMIDATION AHEAD OF POLL, GOVERNMENT DENIES ALLEGATIONS
June 08, 2026
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji of allegedly using security agencies and government structures to intimidate opposition members ahead of the June 20 governorship election. The party’s deputy governorship candidate, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, claimed that several PDP supporters had been arrested, detained, and harassed due to their political affiliation with the opposition.
In response, the Ekiti State government, through its Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, dismissed the allegations as false and baseless. He described the claims as “untrue and laughable,” insisting that the state government was not targeting opposition figures or engaging in any form of political intimidation.
The government further maintained that the accusations were politically motivated and aimed at discrediting the administration ahead of the election, reiterating that due process and the rule of law were being followed in all security matters within the state.
