The House of Representatives member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Biodun Omoleye, on Monday rejected the result of the All Progressives Congress primary election for the constituency.

Omoleye, who alleged “widespread irregularities, voter suppression, and intimidation during the exercise”, which he said subverted constituents’ wishes, promised that he would challenge the results to regain his mandate in a constitutional manner.

The lawmaker, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Monday by his Media Director, Gloria Femi-Ige, called on the party leadership at all levels “to urgently intervene and probe the alleged irregularities surrounding the conduct of the primary election.

“The credibility of the party’s internal democratic process could be damaged if the outcome of the election is allowed to stand without proper investigation,” he said.

Omoleye described the primary election in his constituency on Saturday as “deeply flawed and compromised. The process fell short of democratic standards expected within the party.

“Several wards witnessed harassment and intimidation of my supporters. Genuine party members were denied the opportunity to vote while electoral materials and figures were manipulated in favour of a predetermined outcome,” he stated.

Omoleye alleged that many of his supporters who turned out to participate in the exercise were either threatened or forcibly dispersed from polling areas.

He stated, “This is not the democracy we advocate for. The will of the people was clearly subverted, and what we witnessed on Saturday was a coordinated effort to silence the voice of genuine party faithful.”

Omoleye, who urged his supporters across Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II to remain peaceful and law-abiding while seeking redress, vowed to challenge the outcome through lawful and constitutional means, describing the exercise as a “stolen mandate.”

He said, “Our struggle is not just about an election; it is about protecting democracy, ensuring fairness and upholding the voice of the people. We will not relent until justice is served.”

Recall that the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee in Ekiti State, Banjo Adedoyin, announced the result of the election for the constituency in Ado Ekiti on Sunday.

Adedoyin had stated that a commissioner in the state, Oladapo Karounwi, polled 6573 votes; Omoleye scored 1412 votes; Victor Kolade 2096 votes, Samuel Olusola 705; and Olatunde Oyetola 1202 votes.
