May 09, 2026

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, has publicly declared support for Accord Party governorship candidate Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan ahead of the June 20 Ekiti election, saying it is time for Ado-Ekiti to produce the state governor. The endorsement took place during a visit to the Ewi’s Palace, which drew a large turnout of residents and supporters.

During the event, the monarch described Falegan as an “extraordinary leader” with a strong record of philanthropy across Ekiti State, citing his support for education, healthcare, and vulnerable groups. He also called for leadership that reflects fairness and equity, while offering prayers for Falegan’s success and urging him to govern with compassion if elected.

Falegan, the Accord Party candidate, said the endorsement was a significant moment and pledged to focus on developing Ado-Ekiti as a capital city if elected. He also promised reforms in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation. Supporters and local groups at the event described him as a grassroots-oriented candidate capable of addressing long-standing expectations for representation from Ado-Ekiti.
