FG BUDGETS ₦962.83BN FOR SUVS, EMPOWERMENT PROJECTS IN 2026

July 27, 2026

The Federal Government has allocated ₦962.83 billion for the procurement of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and empowerment projects in the 2026 Appropriation Act, according to an analysis by civic technology organisation Tracka. The allocation includes ₦15.13 billion for the purchase of 39 SUVs and ₦947.70 billion for 2,579 empowerment projects.

Tracka noted that the total allocation exceeds the combined ₦960.27 billion budgeted for seven key federal ministries, including Industry, Trade and Investment; Housing and Urban Development; Women Affairs; Justice; Livestock Development; Aviation and Aerospace Development; and Petroleum Resources. The group listed the ministries' individual allocations, with Livestock Development receiving the highest at ₦177.6 billion.

The organisation also raised concerns over the transparency of the empowerment projects, revealing that only 70 out of the 2,579 projects have clearly identified implementation locations. Tracka warned that the lack of location details raises serious accountability and oversight concerns regarding how the projects will be executed.
