FG DECLARES TUESDAY, AUGUST 25 PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR EID-UL-MAWLUD

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued on Friday by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion, urging them to reflect on the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad.
The minister encouraged Muslims to embrace values such as compassion, humility, service to humanity and peaceful coexistence, stressing the importance of these virtues in promoting unity and harmony in society.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and meaningful Eid-ul-Mawlud celebration.
