CHELLE ADMITS GUINEA-BISSAU WERE BETTER IN SUPER EAGLES’ 3-0 DEFEAT
September 30, 2026
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has admitted that Guinea-Bissau were the better side in Nigeria’s 3-0 defeat in Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Franculino Djú opened the scoring for Guinea-Bissau before Mama Baldé and Álvaro Djaló added two more goals after the break.
Chelle said the hosts showed greater aggression and intensity throughout the match.
The coach also cited the difficult pitch and hot weather conditions as factors that affected Nigeria’s performance.
The defeat leaves the Super Eagles needing to regroup as their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign continues.
