COURT TO RULE NOVEMBER 20 ON ATIKU, ADC’S SUIT AGAINST TINUBU
October 14, 2026
The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 20 to rule on an application by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to amend their suit challenging President Bola Tinubu’s eligibility for the 2027 presidential election.
Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed the date on Tuesday after hearing arguments from the parties.
Atiku and the ADC are seeking permission to amend their court documents in a case involving allegations concerning Tinubu’s National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). They say the proposed amendments are intended to correct errors and clarify their case.
However, Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and INEC have opposed the application, arguing that the proposed changes could introduce new claims beyond the legally permitted scope of the suit.
The court is yet to rule on the application, while the substantive allegations remain unresolved.
