EKITI STAKEHOLDERS VALIDATE FIVE-YEAR DEVELOPMENT PLAN REVIEW

October 12, 2026

Stakeholders from Ekiti State’s 16 local government areas have validated an independent review of the first five years of the Ekiti State Development Plan and outlined priorities for its second edition, covering 2026 to 2030.

The meeting, held on October 8 at Government House, Ado-Ekiti, brought together 467 citizens and representatives of government agencies, traditional institutions and communities.

The review found that 67.6 per cent of surveyed residents reported improvements in their quality of life, particularly in healthcare, education and road infrastructure. However, stakeholders raised concerns about community roads, access to public facilities for persons with disabilities, federal roads and the development of tourist attractions.

The proposed ESDP 2.0 will prioritise infrastructure, human-capital development, agriculture, environmental protection and economic growth as Governor Biodun Oyebanji begins his second term on October 16.

Stakeholders also called for a legal framework to ensure continuity of the development plan across successive administrations and greater community participation in monitoring projects.
