The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has received the first batch of 100 Nigerians returning from South Africa as part of its humanitarian intervention to fund air transportation for 500 stranded Nigerians.

The returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, from Johannesburg at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, following an initiative approved by the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Chairman of the RCCG Task Force for the Reception of Nigerian Returnees from South Africa, Pastor Belemina Obunge, said the church covered the cost of flights from Johannesburg to Lagos, while government agencies would handle reception and onward transportation.

He added that the beneficiaries were not selected solely based on RCCG membership.

According to him, Nigerian diplomatic missions in South Africa are working with South African authorities on profiling and documentation, while additional batches of returnees will arrive as arrangements are concluded.
